#PAINDISANAY2026 LIVE UPDATES: Acad orgs unleash talents in Univ-wide LitMus tilt

Eight academic organizations of the University of the Philippines Visayas are set to face off for the annual university-wide LitMus competition, Paindisanay 2026, today at the UPV Covered Court.

The participating organizations—Bluechips, Clovers, Elektrons, Fisheries, Redbolts, Skimmers, Sotech, and Ugyon—are poised to take center stage as they compete in the categories: Poetry in Motion, Acapella, Vocal Duet, and Creative Modern Dance.

Setting the vibe high for the whole afternoon, Maria Francheska Allyson Gallardo, an Alpha Phi Omega – Kappa Gamma alumna, performed “Liwanag sa Dilim” by Rivermaya and “Pag-Ibig ay Kanibalismo II” by Fitterkarma.

Drag queens Host 1 and Host 2, guiding the audience for today’s event, reads the guidelines and introduces the judges for the Vocal Duet competition.

VOCAL DUET

The Vocal Duet competition set the stage ablaze with the powerful vocals of each duo from the eight academic organizations echoing across the campus.

Voices were not the only things that took spotlight today, but also the creative concepts of each performance, mainly involving love and social injustice.

Here are the respective renditions of songs each duo sang:

ACAPELLA

Clad in their respective white and black costumes, Ugyon and Elektrons were the first teams to deliver acapella performances. Singing a mix of different songs, the two academic organizations started the competition strong.

The next set of performers were rather colorful than monotonous as Clovers and Sotech brought to stage their glittery performances. Singing “Amakabogera” and “Amafilipina” as their respective opening songs, the two teams surely sealed a tight fight between each other.

The order of performances seemed even more planned according to costume as Bluechips and Skimmers came into stage with their denim-heavy outfits. Consistent with their aesthetic, Bluechips sang “Manila” as their opening song. Meanwhile, Skimmers took onto stage their call, “DRAG ISN’T A CRIME”.

With their casual Filipino street fits, Fisheries were the last acapella team to perform. Included in the their setlist is the trending song “Ale”.

Redbolts were the only team which did not have a representative for the said competition.

POETRY IN MOTION

Interpreting the poem “Nanay” by Tomasito Talledo, the teams jfor Poetry in Motion delivered stirring performances that evoked emotions from the audience.

Ugyon centered their interpretation on maternity healthcare in the country.

Elektrons shed light to the struggles of Overseas Filipino Workers,

Clovers highlighted disaster as a result of government corruption, particularly pertaining to flood control projects.

Sotech tackled violence against women and children, portraying the harsh realities of abuse.

Bluechips symbolized resilience through the metamorphosis of a butterfly.

Skimmers focused on the land grabbing of educational institutions to build their campuses, such as the establishment of UP Visayas which took away the land of Miagaoanons.

Fisheries depicted the fragile line between life and death.

The highly anticipated Creative Modern Dance competition drew a jam-packed crowd, marking the highest audience turnout so far in the event.

Seven academic organizations did not disappoint, delivering powerful performances that kept the energy high at the covered court. Fisheries did not have a representative.

All eyes are on the trophies as the awarding of winners will commence in just a few minutes.
